Kashmir & the Himalayas Overview
Designed for faster quoting, cleaner routing, and stronger on-ground delivery
The Himalayan belt runs against the rest of the country's calendar: while the plains sell from October to March, these programs peak through Indian summer. Kashmir is the softer half — Dal Lake houseboats, the Mughal gardens, meadows at Pahalgam and Gulmarg — and works from spring through autumn, with a separate winter season for snow at Gulmarg. Ladakh is the harder half, and the constraint there is altitude rather than weather: Leh sits around 3,500 metres and every itinerary has to open with acclimatisation before Nubra or Pangong. Himachal fills the gap between them with Manali, Shimla, and Dharamshala, all reachable by road from Delhi.
Hotel support
Srinagar houseboats graded by standard, hill resorts through Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Manali, and Shimla, and simpler guest houses in Leh and Nubra where inventory is genuinely limited in peak season.
Transfers and sightseeing
Mountain road legs with drivers experienced on those routes, inner-line permits arranged for the Ladakh excursions, and rest days scheduled into the Leh arrival rather than left to the client to absorb.

Agent Questions
What agents ask us about Kashmir & the Himalayas
Straight answers from the desk that quotes and operates this destination.
How much acclimatisation does a Ladakh program need?
One to two full days in Leh before any excursion. Programs that land and drive to Pangong the next morning are the ones that go wrong, and altitude sickness at that height is a genuine medical problem rather than an inconvenience. We build the rest days in rather than leaving them to the client.
Can Kashmir and Ladakh run as one program?
Yes, and the Srinagar to Leh road is a superb drive when it is open — usually from around late May. It also gains altitude gradually, which helps acclimatisation. Outside that window the two have to be linked by air instead.
Is there a winter product here?
Gulmarg, mainly. The ski season runs roughly December to March and is one of the few real winter propositions in India. Ladakh in winter is for specialists only, and most Himachal hill stations are quiet rather than closed.
