How Golden Triangle programs are built
Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur sit close enough to run as one road circuit, which is why the Golden Triangle remains the default first India program. Delhi carries the Mughal and colonial layers, Agra holds the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, and Jaipur adds the Rajput palaces and a natural onward door into the rest of Rajasthan. The legs are short by Indian standards — Delhi to Agra runs on the Yamuna Expressway, and Agra to Jaipur can absorb a Fatehpur Sikri stop without breaking the day.
What the circuit is built around
- Taj Mahal at sunrise, with Agra Fort the same morning
- Amber Fort and the Jaipur City Palace complex
- Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb in Delhi
- Fatehpur Sikri as a road stop between Agra and Jaipur

Questions agents ask about Golden Triangle
How many nights does a first Golden Triangle program need?
Five to six nights runs comfortably: two in Delhi, one in Agra, two in Jaipur, with a spare evening. Four nights is possible but forces a very early Agra departure and usually costs you either Fatehpur Sikri or a proper Jaipur day.
Does the Friday Taj Mahal closure really affect planning?
Yes, and it is the single most common reason a Golden Triangle itinerary has to be rebuilt. The monument closes to visitors every Friday, so the Agra night has to fall such that the viewing lands on any other day. We check this before quoting rather than after.
Can the circuit extend beyond the three cities?
Jaipur is the natural hinge. From there a program can continue into Rajasthan proper — Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer — or divert to Ranthambore for wildlife. Extending from the Jaipur end is far cleaner than doubling back through Delhi.
Combine it with the rest of India
Most programs run more than one circuit. These pair naturally with the one above.
